Print Address Labels from Excel or Google Sheets
Copy your address list out of Excel or Google Sheets, paste it here, and print it on Avery 5160 or another label sheet. No Word mail merge, no add-on, no account. Handy for Christmas cards, wedding invitations and party invites.
How to print address labels from Excel
- Open your spreadsheet. Keep one person or household per row, with columns such as First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State and ZIP.
- Select the rows, including the header row, and copy them (Ctrl+C on Windows, Cmd+C on a Mac).
- Paste into the box above. The page recognises the usual column names and builds the layout for you; click a column name to add it somewhere else.
- Pick the label sheet that matches the number on your pack, check the preview, and press Print.
The Word way still works: Mailings, Start Mail Merge, Labels, then pick the Excel file as recipients and insert the merge fields. It takes ten or so steps and breaks easily when the columns change. Pasting here does the same job for a one-off batch such as this year's card list.
How to print address labels from Google Sheets
Google Sheets and Google Docs don't print labels on their own; the common answer online is a paid add-on. You don't need one. Select the rows in your sheet, copy, and paste them here. Shared family lists work well this way: one person keeps the sheet up to date and whoever prints the cards just copies it.

Tips for a card list that prints cleanly
- Put the household name in one column if you address cards as "The Becker Family" or "Tom and Ruth Becker". A column called Name is used as the first line on its own.
- Leave Address 2 empty when there's no apartment. Empty fields are dropped, so you won't get a blank line or a stray comma.
- ZIP codes that start with 0 (New England, New Jersey) lose the zero if Excel stores them as numbers. Format the column as Text, or type them with a leading apostrophe.
- Print a test page first. Ink is cheaper than a sheet of labels.
Questions
Can I print address labels straight from Excel without Word?
Yes. Select the cells in Excel, copy them, and paste them into the box on this page. You get the same result as a Word mail merge, without setting up the merge: the page reads the columns, lays the addresses out on the label sheet and prints them.
How do I print address labels from Google Sheets?
Select your rows in Google Sheets (include the header row), press Ctrl+C or Cmd+C, and paste into the box here. Google Sheets has no built-in label printing, so the usual route is a paid add-on; pasting here skips that.
Which Avery template do I need?
Look at the number printed on your pack. 5160, 8160, 5260 and 5960 all use the same layout: 30 labels per sheet, 1 inch by 2⅝ inches, the most common size for Christmas cards and wedding invitations. 5161 and 5162 are wider shipping-style labels; 5167 is the small return address size.
My labels print a little off. How do I fix that?
Print one page on plain paper with "Outline each label" ticked, hold it against a label sheet up to a window, and measure how far off it is. Enter that in the left/right and up/down nudges (in millimetres) and print again. In the print window, keep the scale at 100% ("Actual size"), not "Fit to page".
Can I use a half-used sheet?
Yes. Set "Start at label" to the first empty label on the sheet. Labels are counted left to right, top to bottom, so on a 5160 sheet label 4 is the first one on the second row.
Are my addresses uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser and the list is never sent to a server. Only your settings (sheet type, font, nudges) are remembered on your device; the addresses are not saved.
