Three sets of questions, for three kinds of group
Coworkers
Office questions stay on safe ground: how you take your coffee, the snack you raid the kitchen for, what's tired on your desk, your team or fandom, and what you'd rather not get. No sizes, nothing personal, nothing that makes a new hire uncomfortable.
Family and friends
People who know each other well can ask more: sizes, what someone is running low on, an experience they'd enjoy, what they collect, and a top-three wish list. The "already have too much of" question saves a lot of duplicate socks.
Kids
Short questions a seven-year-old can answer out loud: favorite animal, character, toy and treat. The last line is for a parent, for allergies and anything the house can't handle (yes, slime).
What not to ask
- Budget questions. The organizer sets one limit for everyone; asking people what they'd spend creates awkwardness.
- Anything about weight, body shape or health beyond allergies and diets.
- "What do you want?" on its own. It gets "Oh, anything" every time. Specific questions get specific answers.

Questions
What should a Secret Santa questionnaire ask?
Things a gift buyer can act on: favorite snacks and drinks, colors, hobbies, sizes, allergies and diets, scents to avoid, and what the person already has too much of. One question about something small they'd never buy for themselves is usually the most useful answer on the sheet.
Which questions are OK for coworkers?
Keep it to tastes and hobbies: coffee order, snacks, desk upgrades, shows and teams. Skip clothing sizes, anything about the body, and anything that asks people to reveal money, religion or health beyond allergies. The coworker set on this page is written with that in mind.
Is this questionnaire free? Is there a PDF?
Yes, it's free and there's nothing to sign up for. Press Print and choose Save as PDF as the printer to get a PDF of your answers, or Print a blank copy to hand out on paper. Each version fits on one page.
Do you see or store my answers?
No. The answers stay in your browser on this device so you can come back and finish later. They are never uploaded. Clear answers removes them.
How do I share my answers with my Secret Santa?
Press Copy as text and paste it in the group chat or an email to the organizer. If your group used our Secret Santa generator, the organizer can also paste your answers into the hints next to your name before the draw, so only your Secret Santa sees them.
Can kids fill it in?
Yes. The kids version uses short, simple questions, and the last one is for a parent to note allergies or things to avoid.
